Three Cougars Named to CoSIDA Academic All-District Teams

 MOUNT VERNON, Ohio - Three members of the Mount Vernon Nazarene University men's basketball team were recently selected to the CoSIDA Academic All-District IV College Division First or Second Teams.

Highlighting the honorees for the Cougars (20-10) was Andy Dunn, who was named to the five member CoSIDA Academic All-District IV First Team. Dunn, a 6-foot-1 senior guard from Hamilton, Ohio, leads MVNU in scoring at 20.7 points per game. The former Lakota West High School star also leads all NAIA Division II players with 126 three-pointers made and ranks fourth in NAIA Division II by shooting 92.3 percent from the free throw line (96-of-104). A Business Administration and Accounting double major, Dunn has posted a 3.57 grade point average in the classroom.

Sophomore point guard Alan Bock and senior forward Dan Weston joined Dunn as two of the five players selected to the CoSIDA Academic All-District IV Second Team. Bock, a 5-foot-6 native of Tallmadge, Ohio, is averaging 2.7 points and 2.1 rebounds per game. The former Tallmadge High School standout also leads the Cougars with 121 assists. In the classroom, Bock has posted a perfect 4.00 grade point average as a Biology (Pre-Medicine) major.

Weston, a 6-foot-4 native of Morral, Ohio, is averaging 3.7 points and 3.6 rebounds per game as a key reserve for MVNU. The former Worthington Christian High School product has also recorded 10 assists and 14 steals. A Mathematics major, Weston has compiled a 3.98 grade point average.

The Academic All-District IV College Division Teams are selected by members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). Eligible student-athletes must have at least a 3.20 grade point average and be at least in their sophomore year. The District IV College Division consists of NCAA Division II and III and NAIA schools in Alabama, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio, and Tennessee.
