NewsMVNU's Percival Earns NAIA All-American Honorswritten by Dave Parsons, Sports Information Director
MOUNT VERNON, Ohio - Katey Percival, a member of the Mount Vernon
Nazarene University women's volleyball team, was recently selected
to the NAIA All-American Honorable Mention Team when the awards
were announced.
Percival, a 5-foot-9 junior setter from Elyria, Ohio, becomes only the fifth MVNU women's volleyball player to receive NAIA All-American status and the first setter. The former All-Ohioan at Amherst Steele High School was among the American Mideast Conference leaders by averaging 11.81 assists per game. Percival also recorded 119 kills, 79 blocks, 44 aces, and 407 digs. For her career, Percival ranks second in school history in career assists with 4,259 as she needs just 28 more assists to take over the top spot. She also ranks 17th in career digs with 1,029. MVNU finished the season with a 36-10 overall record marking the twelfth straight year that the Lady Cougars have won at least 36 matches. MVNU also advanced to the NAIA Region IX Tournament for the tenth straight season.
