MOUNT VERNON, Ohio - The Mount Vernon Nazarene University women's
volleyball team has landed its first recruit for the 2004 season
with the addition of Tiffany Milburn.
Milburn, a 5-foot-7 outside hitter from Centerburg, Ohio, has signed a letter of intent to further her education and continue her volleyball career at MVNU. As a senior at Centerburg High School, she recorded 167 kills, 91 blocks, 42 aces, and 290 digs as she helped the Lady Trojans capture their first state title. She was also a member of three conference and regional championship teams and advanced to the state finals twice and the state semifinals once. She was named to the Mid-Buckeye Conference First Team and the All-District First Team as a senior after being an MBC Second Team and All-District Second Team pick as a junior. "We are thrilled about adding Tiffany to our team," said MVNU head coach Paul Swanson, who has compiled a 688-238 record in 20 seasons with the Lady Cougars. "She is a well-rounded, experienced, competitive, and skilled player. She is so athletic and continues to improve each year. We are excited about how good a player she can become. Her great high school background, skill level, and temperament will make her ready to compete right away." In addition to playing volleyball at Centerburg, Millburn has been involved with Junior Olympic volleyball since 2000. She also attended camps at Ohio State University and Coach Swanson's camps. "There are several reasons why I chose MVNU," said Milburn, who plans to major in Communication. "It has a well-rounded academic program. I am also looking forward to being a part of a great volleyball program." MVNU posted a 36-10 overall record in 2003 and advanced to the NAIA Region IX Tournament for the tenth straight season. The Lady Cougars have won at least 36 matches in each of the past 11 years.
