MOUNT VERNON, Ohio - Nathanael Petry, a member of the Mount Vernon
Nazarene University men’s golf team, was selected recently as
the National Christian College Athletic Association Player of the
Week for his performance during the week of March 28-April 4.
Petry, a senior from Uhrichsville, Ohio, led the Cougars to a first-place finish at the Shawnee State University out of nine teams as he earned medalist honors by shooting an even-par 72. The former Claymont High School standout also helped MVNU to a fourth-place finish out of 18 teams at the Southeastern Kentucky Intercollegiate Invitational as he finished eighth individually with a two-day total of 152 to earn All-Tournament Team status. For the year, Petry has finished as the individual medalist at two tournaments and as the runner-up twice. The Cougars, who have compiled an overall record of 85-23 this season, are ranked 26th in the latest NAIA national poll. MVNU will close out the regular season at the 36-hole Otterbein College Invitational on Monday, April 26.
