VERNON, Ohio - Kristen Votapek, a member of the Mount Vernon
Nazarene University women's soccer team, has been selected as the
National Christian College Athletic Association Player of the Week
for the week of September 9-15.
Votapek, a freshman forward from Amelia, Ohio, led the Lady Cougars to a 1-1 record for the week. In a 5-1 win at Notre Dame College, the former Amelia High School standout scored a school-record four goals and added an assist for a school-record nine total points in the team's 5-1 victory. She was held scoreless for only the second time all season in MVNU's 5-1 loss to nationally-ranked Houghton (N.Y.) College to close out the week. For the season, Votapek leads the Lady Cougars (6-2-0) and is among the American Mideast Conference leaders with nine goals, five assists, and 23 total points. MVNU will be back in action on Wednesday afternoon when the Lady Cougars host Kenyon College at 5:00 p.m. in a non-conference match between the two Knox County schools.
