VERNON, Ohio - Katey Percival, a member of the Mount Vernon
Nazarene University women's volleyball team, has been selected as
the National Christian College Athletic Association Setter of the
Week for her performance in matches during the week of September
23-29.
Percival, a sophomore from Elyria, Ohio, led the Lady Cougars to a 2-0 record for the week as MVNU posted American Mideast Conference South Division victories over Tiffin University and Malone College. In the win at Tiffin, the former All-Ohioan at Amherst Steele High School handed out 49 assists with eight digs as the Lady Cougars won in four games. She closed out the week with 50 assists, six digs, and three kills as MVNU downed Malone in four games. For the week, Percival averaged 12.38 assists per game as she compiled 99 total assists in eight games. She also posted a .964 serving percentage with three aces and one error in 28 attempts, and she added five kills, two blocks, and 14 digs. On the season, Percival is among the AMC leaders with 840 assists. She has also compiled a team-high 188 digs to along with 35 blocks, 20 aces, and 49 kills. MVNU is currently 18-5 overall and 2-1 in the AMC South Division. The Lady Cougars will return to action on Saturday when the team will play a conference tri-match at Cedarville University. MVNU will take on the University of Rio Grande at 1:00 p.m. followed by a 3:00 p.m. match against the host Yellow Jackets.
