MVNU's Votapek Sweeps Player of the Week Honors

MOUNT VERNON, Ohio - Kristen Votapek, a member of the Mount Vernon Nazarene University women's soccer team, has been selected as the Player of the Week by the American Mideast Conference, NAIA Region IX, and the National Christian College Athletic Association for her performance during the week of October 28-November 3.

Votapek, a freshman forward from Amelia, Ohio, led the Lady Cougars to a 1-0-1 record for the week as she scored three goals and added one assist. In the team's 2-2 double-overtime tie at Urbana University, the former All-Ohioan at Amelia High School scored one goal. Then, she closed out the week with two goals and an assist in MVNU's 4-2 victory over Walsh University.

On the year, Votapek has scored a team-high 20 goals to tie the school's single-season record. She has also added eight assists to establish a new single-season school record with 48 total points.

The Lady Cougars finished the regular season with a 12-5-1 overall record. MVNU also finished third in the AMC South Division with a 5-1-1 conference mark. The team will travel to Roberts Wesleyan (N.Y.) College for an AMC/NAIA Region IX Tournament quarterfinal match that is slated to begin at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday.
