NewsMVNU's Arnett Named NCCAA National Player of the Weekwritten by Dave Parsons, Sports Information Director
Arnett, a 6-foot-1 freshman center from Miamisburg, Ohio, led MVNU to the championship of the Lady Cougar Tip-off Tournament with wins over Concordia (Mich.) University and Carlow (Pa.) College as she averaged 17.0 points and 10.0 rebounds. In the 67-53 victory over Concordia, the former Miamisburg High School standout scored eight points and grabbed a team-high nine rebounds off the bench. She followed that up with a game-high 26 points and 11 rebounds as the Lady Cougars rallied for a 90-84 overtime win against Carlow. For her efforts, Arnett was selected as the tournament's Most Valuable Player. On the season, Arnett is averaging 12.0 points and 8.0 rebounds while shooting 50 percent from the field (10-of-20) and 76.2 percent from the free throw line (16-of-21). MVNU is currently 2-1 overall and 0-1 in the American Mideast Conference South Division. The Lady Cougars will return to action on Thursday when the team will host Ursuline College in a non-conference contest at 7:00 p.m.
