MOUNT VERNON, Ohio - Brian Bumgarner, a member of the Mount Vernon Nazarene University men's golf team, was selected as the National Christian College Athletic Association Player of the Week for his efforts during the week of April 28-May 4.

Bumgarner, a junior from Westerville, Ohio, led the Cougars to two tournament victories during the week as MVNU improved to 83-18 on the season. The former Worthington Christian High School standout began the week by shooting a 75 as MVNU won the seven-team Saint Vincent (Pa.) College Invitational.

Then, Bumgarner closed out the week by shooting a school-record three-round total of 212 to finish four-under-par and earn medalist honors at the American Mideast Conference/NAIA Region IX Tournament. His final round four-under-par total of 68 was also a school record as he led the Cougars to the AMC/NAIA Region IX Tournament title by three strokes. Bumgarner was also named the AMC Player of the Year.

MVNU will return to action on May 20-23 when the Cougars will take part in the NAIA National Tournament at Matanzas Golf Course in Palm Coast, Florida.
