MVNU's Adams Claims Several Player of the Week Honors

MOUNT VERNON, Ohio - Susan Adams, a member of the Mount Vernon Nazarene University women's basketball team, has been selected as the American Mideast Conference, NAIA Region IX, and National Christian College Athletic Association Player of the Week for her efforts during the week of January 6-12.

Adams, a 5-foot-9 junior guard/forward from Cardington, Ohio, led the Lady Cougars to a 2-1 record for the week as she averaged 21 points, nine rebounds, 2.3 assists, two steals, and one blocked shot per game. She also shot 45.5 percent from the field (20-of-44), 44.4 percent from three-point range (8-of-18), and 71.4 percent from the free throw line (15-of-21).

Adams began the week with 21 points and 10 rebounds in a 75-62 loss at Shawnee State University, ranked 12th in NAIA Division II at the time. She followed that with another double-double of 17 points and 10 rebounds in a 71-55 victory over Wilberforce University. Then, she closed out the week with 25 points, seven rebounds, and four assists in a 95-38 win over Rochester (Mich.) College.

For the season, Adams leads MVNU in scoring (16.4 points per game) and rebounding (7.9 rebounds per game). She has also grabbed a team-high 32 steals to go with 54 assists and 10 blocked shots. She is shooting 45.1 percent from the field (107-of-237), 30.8 percent from three-point land (28-of-91), and 74.6 percent from the free throw line (53-of-71).

The Lady Cougars are currently 9-9 overall and 2-5 in the AMC South Division. MVNU will return to action on Saturday when the team will host Urbana University in a conference game at 5:30 p.m.
