VERNON, Ohio - The Mount Vernon Nazarene University women's
basketball team has added another talented recruit to its roster
for the 2003-2004 season with the addition of Elyse Bogusz.
Bogusz, a 5-foot-9 guard/forward from Chagrin Falls, Ohio, has decided to further her education and continue her basketball career at MVNU. As a senior at Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy, she has averaged 15.1 points and 8.5 rebounds per game while also recording 46 assists and 69 steals. For her efforts, Bogusz was named to the All-Conference First Team for the second straight year and the All-Tri-County Team. She has scored over 1,000 points in her career and holds the school records for rebounds in a game and three-pointers in a season. "I am very pleased that Elyse has decided to join our program next year," said MVNU head coach Steve Gregory. "She is a talented basketball player, but more importantly she is a quality Christian student-athlete." "Elyse will come in and compete for time at the guard and forward positions next year," Gregory added. "She has played mostly in the post this season due to her size, but she really shoots the ball well and that will help her here at the collegiate level." In addition to her accomplishments on the basketball court, Bogusz has been involved in Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and she is an honor roll student. "There are several reasons why I chose MVNU," said Bogusz of her college choice. "I really like the atmosphere, the people, and the good, strong Christian environment. It is close to home, and I have several friends who go there. It is just a great fit for me."
