NewsTwo Lady Cougars to be Honored Prior to Home Finale

MOUNT VERNON, Ohio - Two members of the Mount Vernon Nazarene University women's fastpitch softball team will be honored on Thursday as they play in the final regular-season home games of their careers against Malone College.
Seniors Debbie Dobson and Jenni Davis have led the Lady Cougars to an 86-74 record over the past four years and two fifth-place finishes in the National Christian College Athletic Association National Tournament. This season, MVNU has posted a 24-18 overall mark and an 11-7 American Mideast Conference Central Division record.
Dobson, an outfielder from Elyria, Ohio, ranks seventh in school history by playing in 152 career games. This season, the former Open Door Christian School standout is batting .231 with five doubles, two triples, 12 runs scored, and 24 RBI. She also has seven outfield assists. For her efforts, she was selected to the NCCAA East Region Honorable Mention Team this year.
Davis, an outfielder from Cardington, Ohio, has had an outstanding career for the Lady Cougars as her .337 career batting average indicates. This season, the former Cardington-Lincoln High School star is batting .314 with one double, one triple, eight RBI, and 21 runs scored. She also has seven outfield assists. For her efforts, she was named to the NCCAA East Region Team this season after being an NCCAA Second Team All-American and an AMC Honorable Mention pick last year.
The doubleheader against Malone on Thursday is scheduled to get under way at 3:00 p.m. MVNU is still vying for one of the top six spots in the AMC Tournament which would give the Lady Cougars a home best-of-three series on Friday and Saturday.
