NewsMVNU's Petry Selected as NCCAA Golfer of the Week

MOUNT VERNON, Ohio - Nathanael Petry, a member of the Mount Vernon Nazarene University men's golf team, has been selected as the National Christian College Athletic Association Player of the Week for his performance during the week of March 31-April 6.
Petry, a junior from Uhrichsville, Ohio, led the Cougars to a 20-0 record for the week as MVNU finished as the top four-year school at two different tournaments.
The former standout at Claymont High School began the week by shooting a 78 to finish as the individual runner-up at the Shawnee State University Invitational as the Cougars finished first out of eight teams. Then, he closed out the week with a two-round total of 150 to finish seventh at the Southeastern Kentucky Intercollegiate Invitational as MVNU finished second behind Walters State Community (Tenn.) College in the 13-team event.
On the season, the Cougars are now 47-16 and received votes in the most recent NAIA national poll. MVNU will return to action on April 14-15 at the Walsh University Invitational in North Canton, Ohio.
