Darcee Hoberg and Andrea Rudd, two members of the Mount Vernon Nazarene College women's volleyball team, swept the weekly American Mideast Conference volleyball honors for their performances during the week of September 10-16.
Hoberg, a 5-foot-10 senior outside hitter from Coshocton, Ohio, was selected as the AMC Player of the Week as she averaged 3.69 kills per game with a .336 attack percentage, 40 digs, and 11 aces. The Lady Cougars went 3-1 for the week and finished second at the Pizza Hut Invitational with their only loss coming in five games to Taylor (Ind.) University, ranked 17th in the latest NAIA national poll. Hoberg, a former All-Ohioan at River View High School, was named to the All-Tournament Team.
For the season, Hoberg leads MVNC in kills per game (3.43) and digs per game (3.83). She also ranks second with 18 aces and a .323 attack percentage. In 35 games played, she has recorded 120 kills, 13 total blocks, and five assists.
Rudd, a 5-foot-9 senior setter from Wilmington, Ohio, earned AMC Setter of the Week honors after handing out 9.75 assists per game. She registered 41 assists in the loss to Taylor along with a career-high eight kills, and she added 40 more assists in a win over Saint Xavier (Ill.) University. The former All-Ohioan at Wilmington High School also posted a .957 serving percentage with four aces.
For the year, Rudd is averaging 9.90 assists per game, 1.45 kills per game, and .75 blocks per game. She has also served up seven aces and recorded 26 digs. She recently moved into second place on the Lady Cougars' career assists list with 3,273 assists.
MVNC is currently 12-1 overall on the season. The Lady Cougars will open up AMC play with a key match at Malone College on Tuesday. The action is slated to get under way at 7:00 p.m.
