"MVNC's Hoberg Receives Volleyball Weekly Honors"

   Darcee Hoberg, a member of the Mount Vernon Nazarene College women's volleyball team, was recently selected as the American Mideast Conference and NAIA Region IX Player of the Week for her efforts during the week of October 15-21.

   Hoberg, a senior outside hitter from Coshocton, Ohio, led the Lady Cougars to a 4-0 week as she averaged 3.86 kills, 3.07 digs, and .79 aces per game. She also posted a 95.8 serving percentage, a 95.2 serve reception percentage, and a .333 attack percentage.

   In a come-from-behind five-game win over Walsh University, the former River View High School standout smashed a season-high 24 kills to go along with 20 digs against the Lady Cavaliers, ranked 12th in the NAIA at the time.

   Hoberg followed that performance with eight kills and eight digs in a victory over Saint Vincent (Pa.) College. She also served up a school record-tying seven aces in that match. She added 16 kills and 11 digs in a win over Roberts Wesleyan (N.Y.) College, and she closed out the week with six kills in a victory over the University of Rio Grande.

   On the season, Hoberg leads MVNC in kills (327) and digs (320). She has also recorded 10 assists, 36 blocks, and 42 aces in 94 games. She has a .329 attack percentage and a 95.7 serving percentage.

   The Lady Cougars are currently 29-4 overall and 16-2 in the AMC. MVNC will return to action on Friday when the team will play Point Park (Pa.) College at 8:00 p.m. in a conference quad match at Ursuline College.
