Bethany Seiffert and Sheri Shuler, two members of the Mount Vernon Nazarene College women's soccer team, were recently selected to the NAIA Region IX Teams by vote of the coaches in the region.

Seiffert, a junior midfielder from Lewis Center, Ohio, became the first Lady Cougar to make the NAIA Region IX First Team in the program's brief two-year history. The former standout at Olentangy High School recorded nine goals and eight assists to go along with 26 total points.

Shuler, a senior defender from Gahanna, Ohio, was named to the NAIA Region IX Second Team for her efforts. The former Gahanna-Lincoln High School product anchored the MVNC defense that posted seven shutouts and allowed just 34 goals in 23 matches this year. She also scored one goal and added an assist.

The Lady Cougars finished the 2001 campaign with a 14-9 overall record and a 10-6 American Mideast Conference mark. MVNC also advanced to the National Christian College Athletic Association National Tournament for the first time in the program's history.
