"MVNC Lands Two on All-Region IX Volleyball First Team"

   Darcee Hoberg and Amanda Triplett, two members of the Mount Vernon Nazarene College women's volleyball team were recently selected to the NAIA Region IX First Team by vote of the coaches in the region.

   Hoberg, a senior outside hitter from Coshocton, Ohio, was named to the NAIA Region IX First Team for the second straight year after leading the Lady Cougars with 500 kills and 492 digs. The former All-Ohioan at River View High School also compiled 58 blocks and 69 aces.

   For her career, Hoberg ranks third on MVNC's all-time lists for kills (1,875) and aces (189), and fourth in digs (1,910). She also finished her career third in serve reception percentage (93.4 percent), fourth in serve reception attempts (2,392), and sixth in serve attempts (2,192).

   Triplett, a senior outside hitter from Rockford, Ohio, also made the NAIA Region IX First Team for the second year in a row. The former All-Ohioan at Parkway High School led the Lady Cougars with a .337 attack percentage as well as recording 474 kills, 70 blocks, 34 assists, 50 aces, and 468 digs.

   For her career, Triplett ranks second in the program's history in career kills (1,881) and sixth in career digs (1,520). She also stands second in career serve reception percentage (93.9 percent), fifth in career hitting percentage (.320), seventh in career aces (168), and tenth in career serve reception attempts (1,800).

   MVNC finished the season with a 39-8 overall record. The Lady Cougars also won a share of their fourth straight American Mideast Conference title with a 21-2 record and finished as the NAIA Region IX runner-up for the third straight season.
