Four members of the Mount Vernon Nazarene College women's volleyball team were recently honored when the National Christian College Athletic Association East Region Team was announced.
Darcee Hoberg, a senior outside hitter from Coshocton, Ohio, was selected as the NCCAA East Region Player of the Year and named to the All-Region Team for the third straight year. The former All-Ohioan at River View High School leads the Lady Cougars with 360 kills and 347 digs. Hoberg has also recorded 39 blocks and 50 aces.
Amanda Triplett, a senior outside hitter from Rockford, Ohio, joined Hoberg on the All-Region Team for the third straight year. The former All-Ohioan at Parkway High School leads the team with a .353 attack percentage. Triplett has also posted 325 kills, 49 blocks, 25 assists, 42 aces, and 317 digs.
Carrie McClelland, a sophomore middle hitter from Fredericktown, Ohio, was an Honorable Mention All-Region pick. The former All-Ohioan at Fredericktown High School leads the team with 119 blocks, while also registering 282 kills and 116 digs.
Katie Zipf, a junior middle hitter from Westerville, Ohio, was also an Honorable Mention All-Region selection. The former standout at Big Walnut High School has compiled 215 kills, 81 blocks, 30 assists, and 23 digs.
Head coach Paul Swanson was also selected as the NCCAA East Region Coach of the Year after guiding the Lady Cougars to a 33-4 overall record so far. MVNC will also make its eleventh straight appearance in the NCCAA National Tournament later this week.
