
For the second time this year, Adam Rowe, a member of the Mount Vernon Nazarene College baseball team, has been selected as the American Mideast Conference and NAIA Region IX Pitcher of the Week.
Rowe, a sophomore from Wooster, Ohio, posted a 2-0 record for the week of April 22-28 as the Cougars went 7-1. The southpaw did not allow an earned run in 11 innings during the week as the former Wooster High School star also registered 14 strikeouts with only five walks. Rowe also posted a .421 batting average for the week and hit his first career home run in a 7-6 win over Malone College.
Rowe began the week by tossing a two-hitter at Saint Vincent (Pa.) College in a 7-1 victory. He worked seven innings and struck out seven batters in that game while giving up just one unearned run. Then, he tossed four scoreless, hitless innings of relief in a 2-1 extra inning win over Mount Union College as he struck out seven batters and gave up just one walk.
For the season, Rowe has posted a 9-0 record on the mound with a 3.00 ERA. In 60 innings of work, he has struck out 58 batters and issued just 25 walks. Opponents are hitting just .227 against him. At the plate, Rowe has also compiled a .410 batting average with three doubles, one home run, 12 RBI, and 18 runs scored.
MVNC is currently 30-9 overall and 13-5 in the AMC. The Cougars, who are ranked 23rd in the most recent NAIA poll that came out on Tuesday, will close out the regular season with a pair of doubleheaders in Pennsylvania this weekend. MVNC will play at Point Park College on Friday at 1:00 p.m. and at Geneva College on Saturday at noon.
