"Three Lady Cougars Earn NCCAA East Region Honors"

   Three members of the Mount Vernon Nazarene College women's basketball team were recently honored when the National Christian College Athletic Association East Region Teams were announced.

   Angie Trainer, a 5-foot-10 senior forward from Washington Court House, Ohio, was named to the NCCAA East Region First Team for the second straight year. The former Miami Trace High School star led the Lady Cougars this year in scoring (13.7 points per game), assists (77), and steals (69). Trainer also finished as the second-leading scorer in the program's history with 1,571 career points.

   Susan Adams, a 5-foot-9 sophomore forward from Cardington, Ohio, was selected to the NCCAA East Region Second Team after averaging 11.3 points per game. The former Cardington-Lincoln High School standout also led MVNC in rebounding (7.3 boards per game) and nailed 35 three-pointers.

   Lisa Beaver, a 6-foot sophomore center from Mount Vernon, Ohio, joined Adams on the NCCAA East Region Second Team. The former Mount Vernon High School product averaged 12.3 points and 5.4 rebounds per game for the Lady Cougars. Beaver also blocked a team-high 26 shots.

   MVNC finished the season with an 8-18 overall record. The Lady Cougars also posted a 7-13 American Mideast Conference mark.
