
Chris Holly, a member of the Mount Vernon Nazarene College baseball team, was recently selected as the American Mideast Conference and NAIA Region IX Pitcher of the Week for his performance during the week of March 11-17.
Holly, a 6-foot-1 right-hander from Sunbury, Ohio, tossed a two-hit shutout against Ohio State University-Newark in his first appearance of the season. He took a no-hitter into the sixth inning and finished with six strikeouts to go along with two walks as the Cougars won the game 2-0.
On the season, Holly is now 2-0 with an earned run average of 2.19. In 12 1/3 innings of work, he has struck out eight batters and issued just four walks. Opposing batters are hitting just .227 against the former Big Walnut High School standout.
MVNC is currently 4-0 overall and 2-0 in the AMC. The Cougars will return to action on Thursday when the team will begin its annual spring trip to Fort Myers, Florida, with a doubleheader against MidAmerica Nazarene (Kan.) University.
