Two members of the Mount Vernon Nazarene College women's basketball team were recently honored when the American Mideast Conference announced its annual awards.
Angie Trainer, a 5-foot-10 senior forward from Washington Court House, Ohio, was selected to the AMC Second Team after leading the Lady Cougars in scoring (13.7 points per game), steals (69), and assists (77). Trainer also averaged 5.7 rebounds per game and nailed 26 three-pointers this season. The former Miami Trace High School star finished her career ranked second on MVNC's all-time scoring list with 1,571 career points.
Lisa Beaver, a 6-foot sophomore center from Mount Vernon, Ohio, earned AMC Honorable Mention status after averaging 12.3 points and 5.4 rebounds per game this year. The former Mount Vernon High School standout led the team with 26 blocked shots and shot 48.5 percent from the field (126-of-260).
MVNC finished the season with an 8-18 overall record and a 7-13 conference mark.
