Two members of the Mount Vernon Nazarene College women's fastpitch softball team were recently honored when the National Christian College Athletic Association All-American Teams were announced at the NCCAA National Tournament.
Amanda Triplett, a senior first baseman from Rockford, Ohio, was named to the NCCAA All-American First Team for the third straight year. The former All-Ohioan at Parkway High School leads the Lady Cougars in nearly every offensive category with a .427 batting average, 50 hits, 14 doubles, one triple, a school-record nine home runs, 25 runs scored, and 37 runs batted in. Triplett was also named to the NCCAA All-National Tournament Team as she helped MVNC to a fifth-place finish.
Jenni Davis, a junior centerfielder from Cardington, Ohio, was selected to the NCCAA All-American Second Team. The former Cardington-Lincoln High School standout has posted a .375 batting average and leads the team with 27 runs scored. She has also compiled 42 hits, four doubles, one triple, eight RBI, and four stolen bases. Davis, who has a 3.844 grade point average, was also selected to the NCCAA Academic All-American Team.
The Lady Cougars are currently 19-19 overall and 10-12 in the highly-competitive American Mideast Conference. MVNC has three conference doubleheaders remaining this week in Pennsylvania at Carlow College, Seton Hill College, and Saint Vincent College beginning on Thursday.
