"Three MVNC Soccer Players to Play in OSCA All-Star Matches"

   Three Mount Vernon Nazarene College senior soccer players have been selected to compete in the Ohio Soccer Coaches Association All-Star matches at Ohio Wesleyan University on Sunday, April 14.

   Sheri Shuler, a defender from Gahanna, Ohio, will compete in the women's match at noon. The former Gahanna-Lincoln High School product started in all 23 matches for the Lady Cougars this season and recorded one goal and one assist. Shuler also helped the defense post seven shutouts as the team allowed just 34 total goals. MVNC posted a 14-9 record in its second season of varsity competition.

   Preston Elifritz and Nels Radtke will represent the Cougars in the men's match that is slated to kick off at 2:30 p.m. Elifritz, a forward from Fletcher, Ohio, led the team with 20 goals and nine assists in 2001. The former Miami East High School star also finished his career ranked second in school history in total points (153), second in goals (54), and tied for second in assists (45).

   Radtke, a midfielder from Worthington, Ohio, started and played in all 22 matches for MVNC this season. The former Worthington Christian High School standout also registered six assists for the Cougars, who posted a 14-6-2 overall record in 2001.
