"MVNC's Rudd Earns AMC Setter of the Week Honor"

   Andrea Rudd, a member of the Mount Vernon Nazarene College women's volleyball team, was recently chosen as the American Mideast Conference Setter of the Week for her performance during the week of September 18-24.

   Rudd, a 5-foot-9 junior from Wilmington, Ohio, led the Lady Cougars to a 4-2 record for the week that included a second-place finish at the Wazie Invitational. The former All-Ohioan at Wilmington High School averaged 12.26 assists, 3.00 digs, .78 kills, and .74 blocks per game for the week.

   In two conference victories that kept MVNC unbeaten in AMC play, Rudd handed out 42 and 45 assists against Notre Dame College and Cedarville University respectively. She added 34 assists in a win over Houghton (N.Y.) College, 48 assists and five blocks in a victory against Roberts Wesleyan (N.Y.) College, and 42 assists in a loss to Marian (Ind.) College.

   In the final match of the week, Rudd recorded a school-record 71 assists as the Lady Cougars fell in five games to King (Tenn.) College, ranked #24 in the NAIA. She also finished with three blocks, three kills, and a career-high 21 digs in the match.

   For the season, Rudd is averaging 10.05 assists per game. She has also compiled nine aces, 37 blocks, 45 kills, and 154 digs.

   MVNC is currently 17-4 overall on the season and ranked #25 in the latest NAIA national poll. The Lady Cougars are also in first place in the AMC with a 7-0 conference mark. The team will return to action on Thursday when MVNC will travel to Taylor (Ind.) University, ranked #15 in the NAIA, for a non-conference match that is slated to begin at 7:00 p.m. local time.
