"Four MVNC Volleyball Players Earn All-Region Honors"

   Four members of the Mount Vernon Nazarene College women's volleyball team were recently honored when the 2000 National Christian College Athletic Association East Region Team was announced.

   Darcee Hoberg, Andrea Rudd, Amanda Schumm, and Scarlett Habrun have all helped the Lady Cougars to a 25-9 overall record and a runner-up finish at the NCCAA East Region Tournament. MVNC also received an at-large berth in the ten-team NCCAA National Tournament that will be held November 2-4 at Cedarville University.

   Hoberg, a junior outside hitter from Coshocton, Ohio, was the runner-up for Player of the Year in the region. The former All-Ohioan at River View High School leads the team in kills per game (3.36) and digs per game (4.04). She has compiled 23 assists, 30 aces, 47 blocks, 326 kills, and 392 digs.

   Rudd, a junior setter from Wilmington, Ohio, was the only setter selected to the All-Region Team. The former All-Ohioan at Wilmington High School leads the Lady Cougars with 1,227 assists this season. She has also recorded 21 aces, 65 blocks, 81 kills, and 293 digs.

   Schumm, a junior outside hitter from Rockford, Ohio, rounded out the MVNC players on the eight-member All-Region Team. The former All-Ohioan at Parkway High School leads the team with 370 kills and a .362 attack percentage. She has also registered 35 aces, 37 blocks, 37 assists, and 358 digs.

   Habrun, a senior middle hitter from Millersburg, Ohio, was an All-Region Honorable Mention selection. The former All-Ohioan at West Holmes High School has posted 25 aces, 30 assists, 88 blocks, 195 digs, and 244 kills so far in her final collegiate season.

   The Lady Cougars will return to action on Tuesday when the team will travel to Walsh University for an American Mideast Conference match that is slated to begin at 7:00 p.m.
