Preston Elifritz, a member of the Mount Vernon Nazarene College men's soccer team, was selected as the American Mideast Conference and NAIA Region IX Player of the Week for his performance in matches played during the week of October. 2-8.
Elifritz, a junior forward from Fletcher, Ohio, led the Cougars to a 2-0 record for the week. In a 2-0 conference victory over Cedarville, the former Miami East High School standout scored both of the team's goals. He closed out the week with one goal and one assist in a 3-0 conference victory at Shawnee State University.
For the season, Elifritz has scored a career-high 12 goals. He also leads the team with nine assists, and he is tied for the team lead with 33 total points. Elifritz is among the conference leaders in all three categories.
Elifritz has also been climbing up the MVNC career record lists with his play this season. He is currently tied for fourth place with 30 goals, and he ranks fifth in career assists with 28. He has also moved into fourth place in career points with 88.
The Cougars are currently 10-3-1 overall and 6-1-1 in the conference. MVNC will return to action on Saturday when the team will host Walsh Univeristy in an important AMC match that is slated to kick off at 1:00 p.m.
