Amanda Schumm, a member of the Mount Vernon Nazarene College women's volleyball team, was recently named the American Mideast Conference and NAIA Region IX Player of the Week for her efforts during the week of October 23-29.

Schumm, a 5-foot-10 junior outside hitter from Rockford, Ohio, led the Lady Cougars to a 3-0 record for the week with conference victories over Walsh University, Point Park (Pa.) College, and Geneva (Pa.) College. For the week, the former All-Ohioan at Parkway High School averaged 4.38 kills, 3.75 digs, and .63 aces per game.

Against Walsh, Schumm led MVNC with 13 kills and 14 digs. She followed that performance with six kills, four digs, and three aces in the win at Point Park. She closed out the week with a team-high 16 kills and 12 digs in a victory at Geneva.

For the season, Schumm leads the Lady Cougars with 405 kills. She has also compiled 37 blocks, 39 assists, 40 aces, and 310 digs. In addition, Schumm has a team-best .362 attack percentage.

Schumm recently moved into sixth place on MVNC's career kills list with 1,226. She only needs 15 more kills to move up another spot to fifth place.

The Lady Cougars are currently 29-9 overall. MVNC also wrapped up its third straight AMC title with a 13-1 conference record. The team will return to action this weekend at the National Christian College Athletic Association National Tournament at Cedarville University.
