   Five members of the Mount Vernon Nazarene College women's soccer team were honored recently when the National Christian College Athletic Association East Region Team was announced.

   Shelly Aldrich, Amy Seiffert, Lisa Hinman, Cheryl Balogh, and Rita Mullins were selected to the NCCAA East Region Team by vote of the region coaches after the Lady Cougars posted an 11-8-0 overall record in their first year as a varsity program.

   Aldrich, a senior forward from Marion, Ohio, recorded 16 goals, 42 points, and a team-high 10 assists on the season. The former standout at Marion Harding High School scored at least one point in 17 of the team's 19 matches this season. She set a school record with three assists against Saint Vincent (Pa.) College, and she also ranked in the top ten in the NCCAA national statistics in assists per game.

   Seiffert, a senior midfielder from Lewis Center, Ohio, recorded five goals, seven assists, and 17 points for the year. The former Olentangy High School star also served as one of the team's captains and played the most minutes on the team (1,701).

   Hinman, a freshman forward from Syracuse, New York, led MVNC with 20 goals and 45 points to go along with five assists. The former All-State player at Faith Heritage School had three straight matches with a hat trick at one point during the season. She was also among the top ten in the NCCAA national statistics in goals per game and points per game.

   Balogh, a freshman defender from Lima, Ohio, recorded four assists and four points for the year. The former Elida High School standout led the Lady Cougars' defense that posted nine shutouts. She was responsible for marking the opposing team's top scoring threat each match.

   Mullins, a freshman goalkeeper from Mansfield, Ohio, posted 7.5 shutouts with a 1.46 goals against average. The former Madison High School product notched 84 saves as MVNC allowed just 27 goals in 19 matches. She also recorded one assist.
