Five members of the Mount Vernon Nazarene College women's soccer team were recently honored when the American Mideast Conference announced its 2000 All-Conference Teams.
Lisa Hinman, a freshman forward from Syracuse, New York, was one of only two freshmen named to the AMC First Team. The former All-State player at Faith Heritage School led the Lady Cougars with 20 goals and 45 points while also tallying five assists.
Shelly Aldrich, a senior forward from Marion, Ohio, was selected to the AMC Second Team. The former standout at Marion Harding High School recorded 16 goals, 42 points, and a team-high 10 assists. She scored at least one point in 17 of the team's 19 matches this season.
Amy Seiffert, Cheryl Balogh, and Rita Mullins each received Honorable Mention from the AMC coaches. Seiffert, a senior midfielder from Lewis Center, Ohio, and an Olentangy High School graduate, compiled five goals, seven assists, and 17 points. Balogh, a freshman defender from Lima, Ohio, and a former standout at Elida High School, recorded four assists and was assigned to mark the opposing teams' top offensive threat. Mullins, a freshman goalkeeper from Mansfield, Ohio, and a former Madison High School product, posted a 1.46 goals against average with six shutouts.
MVNC finished its first varsity season with an 11-8-0 overall record. The Lady Cougars also posted a 7-4-0 mark in the AMC.
