
Natalie Wallace, a member of the Mount Vernon Nazarene College women's fastpitch softball team, has been selected as the American Mideast Conference and NAIA Region IX Player of the Week for her efforts during the week of March 26-April 1.
Wallace, a senior outfielder from Newark, Ohio, led the Lady Cougars to a 6-0 week as she batted .588 with 10 hits in 17 at bats. The former Utica High School standout had at least one hit and one RBI in all six games as she finished with 10 RBI and five runs scored for the week. She also posted a .650 on-base percentage, a .941 slugging percentage, and she committed no errors in the outfield with one assist.
In a doubleheader sweep of Geneva (Pa.) College, Wallace went 3-for-5 with a double, a home run, four RBI, and three runs scored. She followed that performance by going 2-for-6 with two runs scored, two RBI, and a stolen base in a sweep at Seton Hill (Pa.) College. She closed out the week by going 5-for-6 with a triple, four RBI, and two stolen bases in a twinbill sweep of Point Park (Pa.) College.
For the season, Wallace is batting .417 with five doubles, one triple, one home run, nine runs scored, and 12 RBI. She also leads the team with four stolen bases, and she has a team-high three outfield assists.
MVNC is currently 10-5 overall and 6-0 in the AMC. The Lady Cougars, who have won eight straight games, will return to action on Thursday when the team will travel to Notre Dame College for another conference twinbill that is slated to get underway at 3:00 p.m.
