"MVNC to be Well-Represented at OCSA Soccer All-Star Match"

   The Mount Vernon Nazarene College men's soccer program will be well-represented at the third annual Ohio Collegiate Soccer Association All-Star match that will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday afternoon at Ohio Wesleyan University.

   Josh Robson (Mansfield, Ohio; Madison H.S.), Rick Collins (Pataskala, Ohio; Watkins Memorial H.S.), and Chris Masone (Edinboro, Pennsylvania; General McLane H.S.) will each participate as players on the North roster in the match that is made up of players from NCAA Division I, II, III, and NAIA schools. MVNC head coach Paul Furey, who was named the OCSA Coach of the Year among NAIA schools, will also serve as the coach of the North squad. The Cougars were also selected as the NAIA Team of the Year by the OCSA.

   Robson, who finished his career as the Cougars' career leader in goals scored (79) and total points (196), was a two-time NAIA Honorable Mention All-American, a three-time National Christian College Athletic Association All-American, and the 2000 American Mideast Conference and OCSA NAIA Player of the Year.

   Collins, who started in a school-record 96 matches in his four-year career at MVNC and finished second in career assists with 45, was named the NCCAA's Wittnauer-Kyle Rote, Jr. Player of the Year in 2000 as well as being selected to the AMC Second Team.

   Masone, who tied Collins for the most matches played in a career with 96, closed out his stellar career ranking sixth on the Cougars' career assists list with 25.

   At halftime of the match, the OCSA Player, Coach, and Team of the Year awards will be presented.

   MVNC finished the 2000 season with a 16-7-1 overall record and a 8-2-1 conference mark. The Cougars finished third in the AMC standings and also third at the NCCAA National Tournament.
