For the second week in a row, a member of the Mount Vernon Nazarene College men's golf team has been selected as the National Christian College Athletic Association Player of the Week.

Chad Gress, a sophomore from Coshocton, Ohio, earned the honor for his performances during the week of April 16-22. The former River View High School standout led the Cougars to a runner-up finish at the Walsh University Invitational on Monday and Tuesday before guiding the team to the title at MVNC's own invitational on Saturday.

At Walsh, Gress fired rounds of 77 and 80 to finish with a 157 to lead the Cougars to a second-place finish out of seven teams. He finished tied for sixth place individually in the two-day event.

At the MVNC Invitational, Gress rebounded from a four-over-par front nine to finish with a one-over-par 109 after 27 holes as the Cougars won the six-team tournament that was shortened to one day due to rain. Gress finished five strokes ahead of his nearest competitor, teammate Nathanael Petry, to earn medalist honors.

The Cougars are currently 64-13 this season and are ranked #22 in the latest NAIA national poll. The team is currently competing at the Cedarville University Invitational in Beavercreek, Ohio.
