Wendy (Rader) Owens

Inducted during the 2005-2006 school year

Wendy (Rader) OwensWendy was a three-year member of the women’s volleyball team after transferring to MVNU from Ashland University.

As an outside hitter for the Lady Cougars, Wendy swatted 1,240 kills during her three seasons and still ranks ninth in school history in that category.  She also holds the school record for kills per game in a season (4.37 in 1994) and kills per game in a match (8.66 vs. Ohio Northern University on September 29, 1994.)

Wendy received numerous honors during her playing career.  She was the first MVNU volleyball player to be named the Mid-Ohio Conference Player of the Year, and she was also a National Christian College Athletic Association All-American in 1993.  In addition, she was the first MVNU athlete to be featured in Sports Illustrated’s “Faces in the Crowd” in the October 31, 1994 issue.

During her career with the Lady Cougars, Wendy led the team to a 112-23 three-year mark that included a 37-0 home record.  MVNU also captured its first MOC volleyball title in 1994.
