Softball Rules

1. Each team will be allowed ten players on the field at one time. A DH may be used at the team’s discretion.

2. A team may start, and must end the game with seven players.

3. Names may not be added to the roster during the game. All players participating in the game must be listed before the game begins. A player who is late may enter the game at the start of the next inning, as long as the player is on the roster at the start of the game. They will be added to the bottom of the batting order. No changes in the batting order will be allowed after the start of the game. A line up card must be given to the umpire before the first pitch is thrown.

4. Each player, while at bat, will start with a 1-1 count and be given one free foul after the second strike.

5. Each game will consist of seven innings; however the twelve run rule will go into effect after five innings. If a team trails by twelve runs at the end of the fifth inning the game will be over. In case of a tie at the end of seven innings, extra innings will be played as time allows. If there is still a tie as time runs out, the game will be declared a tie.

6. A five-minute grace period will be allowed at the start of the game and a fifteen-minute grace period during a tie.

7. Another team may only use an opposing teams bat if it is offered to them. Intramurals will supply sufficient bats to those teams that do not have any.

8. All other rules are governed by ASA rules.

9. Umpires will have the final say.

10. There will be a one homerun per player per game rule. Any homerun after the first will be counted as a double.
