Search Committee Members

The Board of Trustees announces the appointment of a Presidential Search Committee to assist in the process of identifying the next president of Mount Vernon Nazarene University. The Board feels strongly that this team--made up of trustees and elected representatives to the Board from among the faculty, staff, and alumni--will be an essential element of our successful transition and will ensure each segment of our community is represented.

The Search Committee Members are:

Board of Trustees Executive Committee

• Rev. D. Geoffrey Kunselman is the Superintendent of the Northwestern Ohio District Church of the Nazarene. A 1982 graduate of MVNU, Rev. Kunselman is chairman of the Board of Trustees, and will serve as the chairman of the Presidential Search Committee.
• Dr. Robert J. Mahaffey is the senior pastor at West Chester Church of the Nazarene in West Center, Ohio. A 1974 graduate of MVNU, Dr. Mahaffey is the vice chair of the Board of Trustees and chairs the Enrollment Development Committee. Dr. Mahaffey has served on the Board of Trustees for ten years.
• Dr. Christopher M. Weghorst is a Professor in the Colleges of Public Health and Medicine at The Ohio State University. Dr. Weghorst is a 1984 graduate of MVNU and serves as secretary for the Board and Executive Committee, and chairs the Academic Affairs Committee. Dr. Weghorst is a member of Shepherd Church of the Nazarene in Gahanna, Ohio.
• Rev. Harold F. Berrian, Jr., is the Superintendent of the Eastern Kentucky District Church of the Nazarene. Rev. Berrian presently serves on the Executive Committee and chairs the Finance Committee.
• Mrs. Sharon S. Dodds is Vice-President of Money Concepts Wealth Management/Dodds Financial in Bellefontaine, Ohio. She has served on the Board of Trustees for MVNU for 13 years on the Building and Grounds Committee. Mrs. Dodds is a member of the Quest Community Church of the Nazarene in Bellefontaine, Ohio.
• Mr. Lee T. Skidmore, Esq., is the owner and manager of the law firm Skidmore & Hall Co., LPA, in Medina, Ohio. A 1981 graduate of MVNU, he serves on the Executive Committee and chairs the University Relations Committee. Mr. Skidmore is a member of the Wadsworth, Ohio, Church of the Nazarene.
• Rev. Steve Ward is the Superintendent of the North Central Ohio District Church of the Nazarene. Rev. Ward presently serves on the Executive Committee and Student Life Committee of the Board of Trustees.

• Mr. Bryan K. Clay is a manager in the Supply Risk Management department of Honda in Marysville, Ohio. He is a 1982 graduate of MVNU and has been the alumni lay representative on the Board of Trustees for four years serving on the Finance Committee. Mr. Clay also serves on the MVNU Alumni Executive Council, and is a member Shepherd Church of the Nazarene in Gahanna, Ohio.
• Rev. W. Daniel Witter is the pastor of Bethel Community Church of the Nazarene in Medway, Ohio. He is a 1977 graduate of MVNU and has been an alumni clergy representative on the Board of Trustees for three years serving on the Buildings and Grounds Committee. Rev. Witter also serves on the MVNU Alumni Executive Council.

• Dr. Ronald K. Bolender is a Professor for Organizational Leadership in the Jetter School of Business at Mount Vernon Nazarene University. A 1977 MVNU graduate he has been associated with MVNU for 26 years as a faculty member, and 3 years as a staff member. Dr. Bolender is a member of the Mount Vernon, Ohio, First Church of the Nazarene.
• Dr. Paul D. Mayle is a Professor of History and has been a faculty member at Mount Vernon Nazarene University for 37 years. He is a member of the Lakeholm Church of the Nazarene in Mount Vernon, Ohio.
• Rev. Joseph D. Noonen is the Assistant to the Chaplain for Mission and Ministry Opportunities at Mount Vernon Nazarene University. A 1980 graduate of MVNU, Rev. Noonen has served at MVNU since 1995 and currently chairs the Off Campus Study Committee. He is a member of the Lakeholm Church of the Nazarene in Mount Vernon, Ohio.
