"Rasa: An Essence Bittersweet" an exhibit by Paula Nees coming to Schnormeier Gallery
MOUNT VERNON, Ohio — "Rasa: An Essence Bittersweet" art exhibit will be on display at Mount Vernon Nazarene University's Schnormeier Gallery Jan. 4 to Feb. 25, 2017. A reception for the show will be held on Friday, Jan. 13, 2017, from 6-9 p.m.
In this exhibition, artist Paula Nees gathers source material from multiple visits to India's Rajasthan state where small villages are the center of production of handmade fabric and paper. Through painting, textiles, and paper her work compiles imagery from workshops, outdoor spaces, and rooms occupied by artisans in this region to investigate an Indian aesthetic called "Rasa" — literally translated "the essence of a thing."
The show will be on display at Schnormeier Gallery weekdays from noon to 4:30 p.m. For more information on this exhibit and others coming to Buchwald Center visit mvnu.edu/art-design.
