This year's goal is $62,000, and the theme is "Let It Be Love," based on the song from Family Force 5. The theme verses for Lifeline 2017 are John 13:34-35. Over these last few months, the WNZR staff has been moved and challenged by this song and these verses.

"The lyrics of the song "Let It Be Love" are a powerful reminder to follow the challenge that Jesus gives us in John 13— to love one another," said Marcy Rinehart, WNZR Station Manager and co-host of The Morning Thing. "We are committed as a staff to first accept God's incredible, unconditional love and then reflect that to others through our music, programming and service to our listeners and community."

Lifeline 2017 will start on Wednesday, March 29 and run through Saturday, April 1 with a wrap-up day on Monday, April 3.

"Our desire for WNZR's broadcast ministry is to extend a vision that began 30 years ago," said Joe Rinehart, Director of Broadcasting and co-host of WNZR's Afternoon Drive.

"We hope to broadcast an uplifting message that encourages listeners and families on a daily basis. Your gift allows us to continue that effort. Your partnership is also an investment in our students to develop their communication skills while discovering purpose in their lives."

"Being a staff member at WNZR has had a big impact on my life," said Jenna Potts, a senior journalism and media production/public relations double major from Springfield, Ohio.

"I have been able to use concepts learned in the classroom and apply them to a real radio station working actively in the community. I have been blessed to work at local events and get to know Knox County and our listeners. The experience I've had with WNZR is invaluable to my future."

Regarding the theme of Lifeline 2017, Hannah Radke, freshman communication studies major from Medina, OH, said, "The only way to combat the darkness in our world is with the love and light of Christ. Letting it be love means we love so authentically that people stop and see Jesus in us."

Cameron Davidson, a senior computer science major from Mount Vernon, Ohio, adds, "A positive attitude and love are the only ways to overcome the problems that weigh on us."

Wednesday, March 29, is WNZR’s annual "Day of Prayer and Praise." From 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., the staff will focus on how God has provided for WNZR over the past 30 years. Listeners are encouraged to call the station throughout the day to share personal testimonies, prayer requests and praise reports.

Fundraising for Lifeline 2017 begins on March 30, continues through April 3, and will emphasize WNZR’s growth through listener support.

Lifeline 2017 appreciation gifts will be given for donations at designated levels. Everyone making a donation will receive a Lifeline 2017 refrigerator magnet. Donors giving $10 per month will receive an official Lifeline 2017 light bulb keychain featuring the "Let It Be Love" theme, plus WNZR’s 30th Anniversary microfiber cloth. The official Lifeline 2017 T-shirt will be given for gifts of $25 per month. A Lifeline 2017 car sun shade will be given for donations of $50 per month.
