MVNU Presents "A Taste of Opera: A Showcase of Scenes and Songs"

MOUNT VERNON, Ohio —MVNU Theatre and the MVNU Music Department present "A Taste of Opera: A Showcase of Scenes and Songs." This showcase will give a taste of music from scenes of popular and contrasting operas. Students will present arias, duets, and small ensembles from varying scenes. A synopsis of each opera will be presented, and then students will share a musical highlight from that opera. The songs presented will be from operas such as Mozart's "The Magic Flute, The Marriage of Figaro," and "Cosi Fan Tutte." In addition, repertoire from Puccini’s "Gianni Schicci" and Lehar's "The Merry Widow" will be showcased. These are just a few examples of the exciting and diverse experience that this evening of opera will bring!
Performances will be on Thursday, April 6, and Friday, April 7, 2017. All performances begin at 8 p.m. in Thorne Performance Hall inside the R.R. Hodges Chapel on the campus of MVNU. Tickets are $10 for adults and $8 for students; children under 10 are admitted free. Tickets may be purchased online at theatre.mvnu.edu, by phone at 740-397-9000 ext. 1620, or at the box office beginning one hour prior to show time. Seating opens approximately 30 minutes prior to show time.
