MVNU to host the Annual Festival of Joy

MOUNT VERNON, Ohio —Mount Vernon Nazarene University to host the annual Festival of Joy in celebration of our senior adults on Tuesday, April 4, 2017 from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Participants will spend quality time with their students, enjoy special music by The Ball Brothers, and hear from keynote speaker Dr. Doug Van Nest. Van Nest serves as Professor of Pastoral Ministry in the School of Theology and Philosophy at MVNU.

Van Nest has 20 years of pastoral ministry experience and previously served as the superintendent of Southwestern Ohio District Church of the Nazarene for eight years. He holds a bachelor’s degree in religion from MidAmerica Nazarene University, a M.Div. from Nazarene Theological Seminary, and a D.Min. from United Theological Seminary. Van Nest is married to Lisa Baker Van Nest, and they have two sons, Jordan and Jared.

The Ball Brothers consist of brother, Andrew and Daniel Ball; brother-in-law, Chad McCloskey; and Matt Davis. Since their formation in 2006, The Ball Brothers have rapidly made their mark in Christian music by finding a balance between the old and new styles. Their goal is to spread the message of the Gospel and encourage believers. They have appeared on the popular Gaither Homecoming video series and performed on the Main Stage of the National Quartet Convention.

Lunch for all attendees will be served in Ariel Arena at 11 a.m. or individuals can attend an optional Estate Planning Seminar Luncheon in the President’s Dining Room in the lower level of Hyson Campus Center. MVNU partners with The Nazarene Foundation and Don Lain, Vice President of Gift Planning, who will discuss current issues and tax implications. The luncheon is limited to the first 75 people reserving a seat for the seminar.

The festival kicks off with registration at 9:30 a.m.
