September 19, 2013
MOUNT VERNON, Ohio - Mount Vernon Nazarene University was once again named as one of the Best Colleges for 2014 by U.S. News and World Report Best in its "College Guidebook" and online. MVNU jumped 11 places from last year's rankings on the publication's list of Best Regional Universities (Midwest).
MVNU is ranked as a Regional University by the publication due to the recent growth of graduate programs offered and graduate degrees conferred. Following eight consecutive years listed in the Top 50 Midwest Colleges, MVNU was ranked #77 on the most recent listing of Regional Universities, up from #88 a year ago, the first year of the new classification.
"I believe this external ranking affirms the tremendous value of an MVNU education," said Dr. Brock Schroeder, MVNU's Vice President of Graduate and Professional Studies and Enrollment. "The jump of 11 spots in just one year really speaks to how well our University is adjusting and responding to a rapidly changing educational environment."
Mount Vernon Nazarene University offers more than 80 undergraduate programs and remains one of the most affordable private universities in Ohio. In the past year, MVNU has received accolades for several of its academic programs. MVNU Nursing graduates from the class of 2012 received a 100% pass rate on the NCLEX exam, and graduates from the School of Education and Professional Studies continue to be highly sought after by school systems throughout the state.
