Track & Field Coming to MVNU

MOUNT VERNON, Ohio - Track & field is coming to Mount Vernon Nazarene University in the fall of 2014. This program is being coordinated by Coach Chip (David) Wilson, the current Cross Country coach. Track & field will be MVNU's twelfth varsity sport.

Recruiting has already started for this coming fall, headed also by Coach Wilson. The athletics department is looking forward to seeing the new talent this program will bring to MVNU. Track & field will be a great addition to the other competitive sports already being offered.

The program will be launched in several phases over the coming years. By fall of 2014, MVNU will be competing in the following events:

  • 400 Meters
  • 800 Meters
  • 1,500 Meters
  • 5,000 Meters
  • 10,000 Meters
  • 4x400 Relay
  • 4x800 Relay

By 2015, MVNU will add:

  • 3,000 Steeplechase
  • Long Jump
  • Triple Jump
  • 400 Meter Hurdles
  • 200 Meter Run
  • 100 Meter Run

Following this initial launch, MVNU hopes to be able to introduce the hammer throw, the javelin throw, pole vaulting, the high jump, 100 meter hurdles, and the 4x100 relay.
