Dr. Carla Sunberg to Speak at Spring Commencement

MOUNT VERNON, Ohio - Dr. Carla Sunberg, President of Nazarene Theological Seminar, will be speaking at Spring Commencement on May 17, 2014, to celebrate the graduation of the MVNU Class of 2014. Prior to graduation day, Dr. Sunberg's husband Dr. Charles Sunberg will be speaking at the Baccalaureate on May 16.
Dr. Carla Sunberg was elected as the tenth president of Nazarene Theological Seminary on January 3, 2014. She is the first woman president in the school's history and was elected on the first ballot. Dr. Sunberg is an ordained elder in the Church of the Nazarene. She and her husband spent 13 years serving as missionaries in the former Soviet Union. She served as director of compassionate ministries as well as director of theological education while in the Soviet Union.
The son of a preacher, Dr. Charles Sunberg received his own call to preach during his childhood in Indiana and reaffirmed his call as a student at Olivet Nazarene University. Chuck graduated with his bachelor's degree from Olivet in 1978 and went on to earn his Master of Divinity from Nazarene Theological Seminary.
