Music Department Production to Recount Nativity
November 23, 2013
MOUNT VERNON, Ohio - The Music Department at Mount Vernon Nazarene University will present a Musical Drama in Seven Scenes, "The Nativity According to Saint Luke," by Randall Thompson in Thorne Performance Hall on Saturday, Nov. 23, at 7:30 p.m. and on Sunday, Nov. 24, at 2:30 p.m.
This production, under the direction of Elizabeth Barrett, dramatically recounts the beautiful and moving nativity story from the gospel of Saint Luke and will lead the audience with anticipation into the Advent season. Twelve students and two faculty guests, Dr. Stan Wood (retired faculty) and Dr. John Nielson, will portray the various Biblical characters of the story. Collegians Chorale, under the direction of Dr. Bob Tocheff, will also join the production as the "Chorus of the Faithful." This will be a great opportunity to hear God's Word through the voices of MVNU students and faculty.
All seating is general admission. Tickets are $5/adult and $3/student and may be purchased at the door. Tickets will also be sold in advance the week prior to the show in the Music Department Office located in the R.R. Hodges Chapel from 1:30-4:30 each afternoon and in the cafeteria lobby during lunch and dinner hours on Thursday, Nov. 21, and Friday, Nov. 22.
