MVNU Jazz Band to Perform Multiple Concerts

MOUNT VERNON, Ohio - The Mount Vernon Nazarene University Jazz Band will present their spring concert on Monday, April 28, at 7:30 p.m. in the Prince Student Union. They will also perform at Mount Vernon's First Friday event on May 2 at the Buchwald Plaza in downtown Mount Vernon. Those approximate concert times are 6:30 p.m., 7:15 p.m., and 8:00 p.m. The community is invited to attend both events.
The concerts will offer a varied program featuring hits of the jazz and pop eras from The Glenn Miller Band, Duke Ellington, Frank Sinatra, the Doobie Brothers, Chicago, and Earth, Wind & Fire.
The Jazz Band is one of seven instrumental ensembles at MVNU. They perform their own fall and spring concerts and join with the other ensembles in various events. Members represent a variety of academic majors and denominational backgrounds. Director Jim Puckett is an adjunct professor and composer at MVNU and is Worship Arts Pastor at Mount Vernon First Church of the Nazarene.
