Community Invited for an Evening of Music with MVNU Jazz Band

MOUNT VERNON, Ohio - The Mount Vernon Nazarene University Music Department will present an evening of jazz on Thursday, November 21, at 7:30 p.m. in the Prince Student Union. The community is invited to attend this free event.
The MVNU Jazz Band under the direction of Jim Puckett will present a varied program of Swing, Latin, contemporary, and fusion jazz including the music of Count Basie, Frank Sinatra, Natalie Cole, George and Ira Gershwin, Chuck Mangione, and Spyro Gyra. In addition to the 16-piece big band, the performance will feature vocalists Mikey McPherson, Danielle Rebon, and Denae Lawrence.
The MVNU Jazz Band is one of seven instrumental ensembles at MVNU. They perform their own fall and spring concerts and join with the other ensembles in various events including the annual May gazebo concert. Members represent a variety of academic majors and denominational backgrounds. Director Jim Puckett is an adjunct professor and composer at MVNU and is Worship Arts Pastor at Mount Vernon First Church of the Nazarene.
