This year's John A. Knight Bible and Theology conference will focus on the issues that define a Wesleyan understanding of the Church. This includes God's mission and purpose for the Church, how relevant that is to the 21st Century context, and what a local church might look like if it fully subscribed to the essentials of Wesleyan ecclesiology.

The conference will include a variety of workshops, presentations, and discussions. Topics include:

  • Characteristics of the church
  • The Church's mission
  • "Sanctified Imagination"
  • The structure and content of Christian Education
  • "Compassionate Capitalism"

The featured co-keynote speakers are Dr. Henry Spaulding II, MVNU President, and Hank Spaulding, M.T.S., Duke University, as well as faculty from MVNU's School of Theology and Philosophy and other invited scholars from the Wesleyan tradition.

The John A. Knight Bible and Theology Conference is named in honor of Dr. John A. Knight, who served MVNU as chaplain, professor, and president. Dr. Knight was also a key theological voice for the Church of the Nazarene as editor of the "Herald of Holiness" and as a General Superintendent.
