Engineering Coming to MVNU Fall of 2014

MOUNT VERNON, Ohio - Mount Vernon Nazarene University is excited to announce a brand-new degree program: Engineering. Starting in the fall of 2014, MVNU will offer a B.S.E. degree with concentrations in Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering. The program will progressively implement one level of curriculum each year starting in 2014, with the first degrees conferred in 2018.

Engineering is among the highest paying career fields. According to the Bureau of Labor and Statistics, Electrical Engineers earn a median salary of more than $84,000 and Mechanical Engineers earn more than $78,000. As an Engineering major at MVNU, you will:

  • Receive broad training in engineering with a concentration in either Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering
  • Learn to design and fabricate next generation machines and devices driving new products to meet critical needs
  • Receive hands-on training using state-of-the-art equipment and software
  • Gain experience working on project design teams
  • Participate in design competitions for projects such as autonomous robots or all-terrain vehicles
  • Explore internship or co-op opportunities with local engineering companies
  • Be mentored by professors with advanced degrees who bring real-world experience and great teaching skills to the classroom
