Duo Orfeo to Perform for MVNU's Lecture/Artist Series

MOUNT VERNON, Ohio -- Mount Vernon Nazarene University is pleased to present Jamie Balmer and Joseph Ricker as Duo Orfeo, performing "Soli Deo Gloria - Sacred Vocal Music Arranged for Two Electric Guitars" for the 2013-2014 Lecture/Artist series on March 26, 2014 at 7:00 p.m. in the R. R. Hodges Auditorium. This event is free and open to the public.
Formed in 2005, Duo Orfeo is known for their unique repertoire of classical music arranged for both classical and electric guitars. They perform pieces from composers of the past and the present, including Arvo Part, Johann Bach, and Valentin Silvestrov, while some pieces are their own arrangements of works written for other instruments.
Duo Orfeo has produced three studio albums, Duo Orfeo, I Sing the Body Electric, and The Grace Sessions and has performed at such places as Washington College, Newark's Cathedral Basilica of the Sacred Heart, and the Church of St. John the Evangelist in Boston. In 2011, the group participated in a multimedia project, "Machines," at the Galapagos Art Space in Brooklyn.
