Community invited to join MVNU for Fall Music Scholarship Recital

MOUNT VERNON, Ohio --Mount Vernon Nazarene University will present some of the 2012-2013 music scholarship recipients in recital on Thursday, October 4, at 7:30 p.m. The recital will take place in Thorne Performance Hall in the R.R. Hodges Chapel/Fine Arts Building and a reception will follow. The community is invited to attend this free event.

The concert will feature several instrumental and vocal performances and will include a wide variety of musical styles. The participants are:

Ethan Briggs is a sophomore social work major from Lima, OH. He studies trumpet with Dr. John Packard and plays in Symphonic Wind Ensemble.

Allison DeSimone is a senior music education major from Marion, OH. She studies alto saxophone with Mrs. Jackie Bretz and participates in Symphonic Wind Ensemble and Chamber Winds.

Emily Johnston is a sophomore intervention specialist major from Columbus, OH. She studies voice with Mr. Tyler Skidmore and sings in Collegians Chorale.

Bethany Kindle is a junior Spanish/social worker major from Miamisburg, OH. She studies clarinet with Mrs. Jackie Bretz and plays in Symphonic Wind Ensemble and Chamber Winds.

Denae Lawrence is a sophomore music and worship major from Diamond, OH. She studies voice with Dr. Dione Bennett and participates in Collegians Chorale, Goliards Chamber Choir, Music Stage Production, and travels with a music and ministry team.

Marjorie Lohnes is a senior early childhood education & intervention specialist major from Wooster, OH. She studies voice with Dr. Carolyn Redman and sings with Collegians Chorale.

Sutton Massie is a sophomore music major from Cross Lanes, WV. She studies piano with Dr. JoAnn Koh-Baker and participates in Symphonic Wind Ensemble.

Mark Rednour is a senior marketing major/music minor from Strongsville, OH. He studies alto saxophone with Mrs. Jackie Bretz and plays in Jazz Band.

Kathleen Scott is a sophomore communication studies/public relations major from West Liberty, OH. She studies voice with Mrs. Elizabeth Barrett and sings in Collegians Chorale.

Jamie Stout is a sophomore music education major from Moundsville, WV. She studies bass clarinet with Mrs. Mrs. Jackie Bretz and participates in Symphonic Wind Ensemble, Chamber Winds, Collegians Chorale, and Music Stage Production.

Audra Thomas is a sophomore music education major from Lizemores, WV. She studies alto sax with Mrs. Jackie Bretz and plays in Symphonic Wind Ensemble, Chamber Winds, and Jazz Band. She also sings with Goliards Chamber Choir and Treble Singers.

Cody Thomas is a senior music education major from Lizemores, WV. He studies tuba with Dr. Joel Shonkwiler and voice with Mrs. Elizabeth Barrett. He participates in Symphonic Wind Ensemble, Chamber Winds, Collegians Chorale, and Goliards Chamber Choir.

McKenzie Vaughn is a junior music education major from Westerville, OH. She studies trumpet with Dr. John Packard and participates in Symphonic Wind Ensemble, Chamber Winds, and Collegians Chorale.
